Chocolate-Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate-Orange-Cookies

These cookies feature another one of my favorite flavor combinations—chocolate and orange.  I has been a couple of years since I have made these cookies, and I had forgotten how good they are.  In the past I have used semisweet chocolate chips, but opted for dark chocolate chips this time.  They are very good either way.  These cookies do tend to dry out quickly, so store them in an airtight container.  You can also add a slice of bread to the container to help keep them soft and chewy.

Besides these cookies, I have posted a few other recipes that use citrus zest:  Cranberry Orange Scones, Cinnamon Orange Cranberry Monkey Bread, Orange Cake with Orange Cream Cheese Frosting, and Lemon Cream Cheese Bars.  For recipes that call for zest, I love using my Microplane Zester/Grater.  This is one of my favorite kitchen gadgets.  It makes it so easy to get only the zest, and not the bitter pith which can ruin your recipe.

  16. Chocolate and Orange are a wonderful combination and we love using the zest, it adds so much flavor. And a chewy cookies is always perfect, never a fan of the dry crumbly ones. Lovely!

  18. Chocolate and orange - brilliant! I much prefer weights of ingredients though - every time I've tried baking using the 'Cups' way of doing things, it's all gone very wrong! :)

  22. Just made this recipe and it's awesome! I used special dark cocoa and special dark chips. Had one while still warm and it's like eating a molten chocolate cookie with a delicious citrus zing- not overpowering at all.

  23. I do a lot of baking, but have had very mixed results from blog recipes, so I was a little nervous to try this. I am so glad I did! I recently got some chocolate orange cookies from a very high-end bakery close to my house, which is why I went searching for a similar recipe. These cookies are at least as good as the ones I bought from the bakery. Thank you so much for a great recipe.

I found your blog when I was looking for a chocolate orange cookie recipe after I'd had one at a fantastic local bakery. This recipe is at least as good as theirs, so I'm very impressed! I will definitely be trying more of your recipes. Thanks so much.
